Higher Ground, the renowned production company spearheaded by the Obamas, is broadening its podcast spectrum by incorporating "Expense Account." This intriguing series delves into the realms of food and culture, guided by the dynamic duo of culinary critic Jason Lee and co-creator Emily Sundberg, celebrated for her widely-read Substack, "Feed Me."

Now in its second season, "Expense Account" has captivated audiences with its engaging discussions, featuring a diverse array of guests from the culinary, media, business, and hospitality industries. The podcast also draws inspiration from "Feed Me's" in-depth reporting on the restaurant world. This new addition joins an impressive roster of podcasts under the Higher Ground banner, including "IMO with Michelle Obama and Craig Robinson," "Lemme Say This" with Hunter Harris and Peyton Dix, "Reconstruction: The Unfinished Promise" featuring President Barack Obama and Malcolm Gladwell, "Fela Kuti: Fear No Man," "Talk Easy" with Sam Fragoso, and "Stories From A Stranger" with Hunter Prosper.

Dan Fierman, the head of podcasts at Higher Ground, expressed his enthusiasm for the collaboration, stating, "At Higher Ground, our constant endeavor is to discover creators who bring innovative viewpoints and cultivate meaningful connections with their listeners. Emily and Jason have crafted something truly exceptional with 'Expense Account'—a program that utilizes food as a prism to examine culture, commerce, creativity, and the individuals shaping modern life." He further added, "We are thrilled to welcome them to Higher Ground's expanding podcast collection as they continue to extend the show's reach and impact with an additional episode weekly." Sundberg shared her excitement about partnering with Higher Ground for the podcast's next phase, anticipating more profound conversations about the most influential personalities in the hospitality industry, with a hopeful future appearance by Dua Lipa. Lee echoed this sentiment, highlighting the successful first season with guests like Helen Rosner, Pete Wells, Alison Roman, Keith McNally, and Chef Paul Carmichael, and expressed his eagerness to elevate the podcast further with Higher Ground, promising more culinary explorations, humor, and unexpected delights.

This expansion signifies Higher Ground's dedication to fostering diverse narratives and voices in the podcasting landscape, providing platforms for thought-provoking content that enriches and informs the global audience. By embracing unique perspectives and compelling storytelling, Higher Ground continues to champion initiatives that inspire and uplift, reinforcing the power of media to connect communities and spark positive discourse.
