In a significant corporate restructuring, Disney has elevated April Carretta to the position of Executive Vice President of Communications. This strategic move, announced by Chief Communications Officer Paul Roeder, places Carretta in a pivotal role where she will directly support Dana Walden, Disney's recently appointed President and Chief Creative Officer. Carretta's expanded responsibilities underscore Disney's commitment to streamlining its communications strategies across key divisions, reflecting a renewed focus on unified messaging under new leadership.

Carretta's new mandate extends beyond her previous role as head of communications for Disney's direct-to-consumer and technology and product teams. She will continue to oversee public relations for these critical areas while also taking charge of the company's gaming business, which has recently been integrated under Walden's purview. This consolidation of communication efforts aims to enhance synergy and coherence in how Disney presents its diverse offerings to the public and stakeholders. The promotion is part of broader organizational adjustments within Disney's public relations department, signaling a proactive approach to evolving market dynamics and internal leadership changes.

The internal memo from Paul Roeder, which outlined these organizational enhancements, emphasized the vital role of the communications department in Disney's future success. Roeder highlighted the importance of strong leadership and capable individuals in navigating the company's next chapter. Further changes within the communications team include David Jefferson leading corporate communications and international teams, Mimi Fong joining Carretta's team for international content communications, and Carrie Brown reporting directly to Roeder for internal communications. Additionally, Mariana Vaca has been appointed as Director, Communications, to bolster company-wide communication efforts. These appointments reflect Disney's ongoing efforts to build a robust and agile communications infrastructure to support its global operations and strategic objectives.

This elevation of April Carretta and the broader reorganization of Disney's communications division illustrate a forward-thinking approach to corporate leadership and public engagement. By empowering experienced professionals and creating clearer lines of communication, Disney is poised to foster a more transparent and impactful dialogue with its audiences, employees, and partners. Such strategic alignment is crucial for any global enterprise aiming to maintain its influence and navigate the complexities of the modern media landscape with integrity and innovation.
