CBS is set to launch the highly anticipated 39th season of "The Amazing Race," introducing a fresh roster of contestants and exciting new gameplay mechanics. Departing from the previous season's reality TV crossover, this installment brings together a diverse group of ordinary Americans, including notable figures like two accomplished female professional athletes, ready to embark on a global adventure. The journey promises unprecedented twists, such as a record number of Express Passes and a historic first-time visit to the captivating landscapes of Albania, ensuring a dynamic and unpredictable competition.

The upcoming season will debut with a special two-night event, beginning on Wednesday, September 30, at 9:30 p.m. ET, followed by a second episode on Thursday, October 1, also at 9:30 p.m., airing on CBS and streaming on Paramount+. The race commences in Vancouver, Canada, where teams will face an adrenaline-pumping 200-foot leap off the BC Stadium catwalk. From there, the competitors will traverse more than 25,000 miles across five continents and nine countries, exploring 13 different cities. Highlights of their global odyssey include camel trekking in Morocco and paramotor flying in Laos, offering a rich tapestry of cultural experiences and demanding physical challenges.

A significant innovation for Season 39 is the introduction of a record 13 Express Passes, a strategic advantage that all teams will receive at the outset. This twist compels teams to carefully consider when and how to deploy their passes before the sixth leg of the race, adding layers of strategic depth to the competition. Host Phil Keoghan emphasized that these new elements, combined with classic race components and the maiden voyage to Albania, are designed to intensify the strategic demands on contestants, all vying for the coveted $1 million prize.

The diverse lineup of 13 teams includes a variety of relationships: best friends and mothers Jody Rebhun (44, history teacher) and Jenn Naso (44, forensic scientist) from Connecticut and New York; sisters Dafina Dunmore (52, bond analyst and DJ) and Saran Dunmore (51, personal trainer) from Chicago; and the celebrated pro athletes Ali Krieger (42, two-time World Cup champion and Olympian) and Joanna Lohman (44, former USWNT player and NWSL champion) from New Jersey and Maryland. Other pairs include grandfather-grandson duo Doug Matter (73, retired fire chief) and Dylan Matter (19, college student) from San Diego; married parents Michelle Patterson (31, auto body shop owner) and Matthew Patterson (36, business operations director) from Rutherford, N.J.; brothers Zach Johnson (30, car salesman) and Nate Johnson (27, director of sales) from Dallas, Texas; married couple Erin Taylor (28, head of HR) and Javi Vintimilla (30, pilot) from Fort Lauderdale, Fla.; father-daughter team Anuar Tager (58, developer) and Andrea Tager Ballesca (25, medical student) from Houston, Texas; siblings Cody Langlois (35, civil engineer) and Jaime Tribo (33, dietitian) from Los Angeles and Tinley Park, Ill.; mother-daughter Ann-Marie Tejcek (56, healthcare executive) and Riley Tejcek (29, marine officer) from Carmel, Ind., and San Diego, Calif.; videographer couple Daisha Wilks (28) and Dalton Hamby (27) from Alabama; childhood friends Conner Wilson (27, media producer) and Garrett McGuire (27, engineer) from California; and sisters Katie Schultz (26, esthetician) and Charlotte Schultz (20, esthetician) from Murray, Ky.

The production team behind "The Amazing Race" Season 39 includes executive producers and creators Bertram van Munster and Elise Doganieri, along with Jerry Bruckheimer, Phil Keoghan, Patrick Cariaga, and Darren Bunkley. World Race Productions, in collaboration with Jerry Bruckheimer Television, ABC Studios, and Amazing Race Productions, is responsible for bringing this exciting competition to screens. The upcoming season aims to captivate audiences by showcasing the resilience and ingenuity of everyday individuals as they navigate the complexities of global travel and challenges, making it a compelling watch for fans worldwide.
